Railroad Construction Company, Inc. has just finished the Randall’s Island Connector Project in the Bronx, NY. Working as a subcontractor to Hunter Roberts Construction Group under a contract from the New York City Economic Development Corp., the job entailed the installation of a new at-grade crossing and associated track work to intersect with a new bicycle path being built concurrently.
Prior to construction, we removed the existing track and excavated the area. The new roadway crossing was built using 40’ of Startrack Precast crossing while 120’ of new track on concrete ties was constructed annexing the crossing. Electrical conduit for a complete lighting and active signal package was added. All work was completed during a one week track outage, ahead of schedule and under budget.
We would like to thank Lauren Lopez, Mike Menotti and Brian Barclay of Hunter Roberts Construction and Lenny McGee of Oldcastle Precast.
