In August, prior to the start of the 2015-2016 school year, the Boys & Girls Club of Paterson & Passaic conducted their annual “Stuff the Bus” campaign to collect and distribute school supplies to the children in their program. This year, co-workers in our Paterson office joined in the event.
Co-workers donated everything from backpacks to pens and pencils, paper, rulers and notebooks. The Club recommends that each backpack contain approximately $25 worth of school supplies (including the pack itself). Some people put together a complete pack with all the suggested supplies. Others purchased large quantities of pens, pencils, papers, etc. and sent them to the Club where they were assembled into complete backpacks by program volunteers. In total, thanks to the Club’s many benefactors, nearly 400 backpacks were distributed.
The goal of the program is to give a child all the school supplies they need to flourish in the year ahead or as they say at the Boys & Girls Club, “give children in need the supplies to succeed”.
The Club staff was happy to announce that the campaign was a big success. We look forward to our continued partnership with the Club and thank all our co-workers, whose generous donations helped several hundred students start the school year off on the right foot.
