Railroad Construction Company, Inc. (RCC) in partnership with HNTB New York Engineering and Architecture, P.C. (HNTB) was awarded the $108 million Long Island Rail Road Design Build contract #6259 to expand Mid-Suffolk Electric Yard east of the Ronkonkoma Station, within the existing LIRR right-of-way. This project will provide LIRR customers with more travel options than ever before. 
 
The expanded yard will include:

• Eleven (11) additional storage tracks, each holding a 12-car electric train
• New employee facilities
• Interior car cleaning and servicing
