LAKEHURST AIRCRAFT FIRE RESCUE BUILDING
Project Highlights / Scope of Work
• Fabricated and erected all structural steel for new fire rescue building
• Performed complex steel fabrication involving hip and valley roof framing
• Maximized efficiency through improved production / erection scheduling
• Coordination of fabrication process and erection crews to maintain completion deadline
This fire rescue station, located at Naval Support Activity Lakehurst, is part of a joint military base housing U.S. Army, Navy, Air Force and Marines. Established in 1921 as a Navy airship facility, the base is most well known as the location of the Hindenburg disaster.
We performed both the steel fabrication and erection for this project. All the steel, including the complex hip and valley roof framing members, was produced entirely in our large Southampton facility.
As the fabrication of each section was completed, the steel was shipped to the site and erected while the next portion was being fabricated in our shop. This simultaneous process of fabrication and erection resulted in maximum efficiency of product delivery and shortened project scheduling.
